Boost for bikers as cycleway work gets in the fast lane

The hotly anticipated Buckingham to Winslow cycleway will be ready sooner than expected as work entered its fifth week along the A413.

That is because during the school summer holidays, there is a relaxation to the restricted hours – while traffic flow is low. The extra hours will accelerate the work.

Transport for Bucks would like to thank the residents at Padbury, Padbury Parish Council and Vale of Aylesbury Hosuing Trust for their co-operation over the last month while the main compound was being set up at Springfields.

There are two gangs working along the 9 km route. Gang 1 are working along the Winslow Road, Padbury from Folly Farm towards Padbury.

The existing footway has been excavated, edgings and kerbing installed and tarmac starts this week.

The retaining wall at Lower Way will start next week with letters to adjoining properties at Padbury in the post.

When Padbury is completed the gang will then move towards Buckingham.

Gang 2 are working along Buckingham Road, Winslow, from Furze Lane to Seven Gables.

The existing footway has been excavated and the pre -cast concrete edgings have been installed. The gang will then continue work towards Adstock.

As part of the work, three real time passenger information signs have been installed at bus stops along London Road, Buckingham.

The section through Winslow has been taken off the TfB programme because this is being funded by developers.

Work on this section will start in the autumn, subject to a Bucks County Council agreement with the developers.

The cycleway is due to open in the New Year.
