Bierton blockages as three road-affecting projects line up

Roadworks are coming at Bierton from all angles in the coming months, but authorities say they have everything under control.

Work started on improvements to Bierton Road this week, and is expected to take three weeks.

Construction work on the Stocklake link road will eventually result in Bierton Road being used as a diversion, but Transport For Bucks says that this will not be during this current roadworks period.

And the area could see more construction work in the next few months if a judicial review on Bierton Crematorium finds in the project’s favour on March
22.

A spokesman for Transport for Bucks (TFB) said: “TFB has checked with contractors preparing to build the new Stocklake Urban road nearby, to make sure Bierton Road is resurfaced before it is needed as a temporary diversion route for Stocklake. “

Mark Shaw, Bucks County Council’s cabinet member for transport, said: “Road resurfacing is that the top of residents’ priorities, and we’re doing all we can to get this work done soon.

“I’m sorry for the inconvenience to everyone, but for a little pain there will be a lot of gain.”

During the works temporary traffic lights guide a single lane of traffic down much of the top end of the road, close to Aylesbury Prison.
