Demand for tickets was so great that the band were pursuaded to do two sets on the day.

At that time in the band’s career they had only released three UK singles which had moderate success in the charts.

They were ‘In The City’, ‘All Around The World’ and ‘This Is The Modern World’.

Their sets would have consisted of a lot of their own material as they had produced two albums by then.

The Jam would appear another two times at Friars, in 1979 and 1980, by which time they had become one of the biggest bands around.
