This shot was taken by one of the Bucks Herald’s photographers and he’s captured a picturesque town scene.

In those days there was a greater variety of shops than there are today.

On the right are Aylesbury Wool Shop and Curry’s.

Looking behind the shopfronts we can see an older building. It was built as a Sunday School which was adjacent to the Congregational Church to its right (out of view).

On the opposite side of the street is Marks & Spencer which, of course, is still there today. Benefit shoe shop was to its right and on the corner of Britannia Street was Prices Tailors.

Another shoe shop, Ivatts, was on the opposite corner of Britannia Street.
