Back in Time: Memories of the Chocolate Box and Poodle Parlour

Pictured here is a row of buildings in Walton Street in about 1963.

Just visible to the right are the railings in front of Walton Parish Hall.

The shop with the canopy sold sweets and was called the Chocolate Box.

To its left is another shop called Poodle Parlour which was there up until about 1967.

The cottages next door were all demolished in 1965 along with the buildings of Aylesbury Brewery Company to make way for Planar House which was a large plain concrete building.

It had a garage and petrol station and also the much loved Lotus Garden Restaurant.

Today Kerr Place stands on its site and only the two buildings nearest survive.

Number 85 has been converted into flats as has the smaller building next door although the ground floor of that still has a shopfront.
