On Wednesday December 9, 1931 there was a performance of two musical plays , Trial by Jury and The Pirates of Penzance at Aylesbury Town Hall.
They were presented by the Aylesbury Amatuer Operatic Society.
Pictured here is the judge, played by Thomas Walker giving a disapproving look at the character on the right.
As the Bucks Herald reported shortly after the play, Trial by Jury was admirably presented, and the audience was soon in roars of laughter by the amusing situations created in the court of justice”.
Both plays were presented in aid of the British Legion.
The Society’s first production was in 1930 and the proceeds from that went the Royal Bucks Hospital fund.
