Aylesbury Vale Parkway fully open in June

AYLESBURY Vale Parkway will fully open on June 1.

The station has been operating since opening on December 14 2008 but on June 1 the new station building and all of the car park will be open for the public to use.

Trains run twice an hour at peak times on weekdays and once an hour off peak and at weekends from Aylesbury Vale Parkway to go to destinations including Aylesbury, Amersham and London Marylebone. Chiltern Railways monthly season ticket holders in Steeple Claydon, Westcott, Quainton or Waddesdon, are encouraged to use the Route 16 bus service. Simply hop on the Route 16 bus at peak times and enjoy a free ride to the station to meet your train.

To thank the many passengers that have used the station from December, between 0545 and 0930 on June 1 2009 there will be free tea, coffee and croissants available from the new caf within the modern building. One lucky passenger will also win a mystery prize and there will be the opportunity to chat to representatives from Buckinghamshire County Council, Chiltern Railways about the new facilities as well as Arriva who operate the buses to/from the station.

Valerie Letheren, Cabinet Member for Transportation said, 'Aylesbury Vale Parkway has been operating well since it opened in December and I am delighted passengers will now be able to use the fully completed facilities. People using the new station can have a free journey on the bus, if they have at least a month long Chiltern Railways season ticket, they will find it easy to park and can relax knowing that they do not need to be held up in any congestion on the roads. The new station will provide passengers with a pleasant environment in which to start their journey as well as a guaranteed seat. This, combined with the excellent reliability of Chiltern Railways, offers passengers a great way to travel.

Adrian Shooter, Chairman of Chiltern Railways, said, 'We are always looking to invest and open new services that give our passengers options and an easier way to travel and Aylesbury Vale Parkway will certainly do that. We're particularly proud that Aylesbury Vale Parkway will be fully open in June because we have completed this project some 18 months early, which is testament to what can be achieved by working in partnership with local authorities."
