Aylesbury reacts after being at the centre of a 3.8 magnitude earthquake

David James, who lives in Aylesbury Town Centre rang the Herald and said: "I couldn't believe it was happening!

"I was lying in bed with a coffee and the bed started shaking and I dropped the coffee!

"I thought I was imagining things. I can't believe it's just happened. I'd dread to think what would have happened if it was any stronger. Absolutely terrifying prospect."

Dan Forder, a wildlife photographer posted to Twitter: "Earthquake/tremor just now felt at Watermead, Buckinghamshire.

"My top floor flat shaking, walls & roof creaking, & strange ripples all over water on small lake with carp jumping!"

Jenny, who lives in Wingrave emailed the Herald: "I was woken up this morning with the house shaking! I had absolutely no idea what was going on and thought it might be roadworks of builders, but I've logged into Twitter this morning and WTF! In Aylesbury? Incredible."

Barry Pearce tweeted: "I survived the Chinnor earthquake of 2016 and now the Aylesbury quake of 2020. I'm invincible."

Bucks and MK Fire and Rescue tweeted that they had recieved several calls about the Earthquake.

They posted: "Three 999 calls (from Aston Clinton, Cheddington and Wingrave) reporting a minor #earthquake at about 9.45am, but we have not received any calls to actual incidents."

Others were quick to make light of the situation...

Mark Rooney posted on the Bucks Herald facebook page: "Sorry my bad ! It was me jumping for joy that my youngest has finally gone back to school!"
