The collection was organised by local councillors Ashley Waite and Paul Irwin.

Bernie the Bus is currently making stops in various locations across Aylesbury and the surrounding villages, playing music along the way, combining a vital collection service with a fun atmosphere. People can leave donations at the end of their paths or on their doorsteps and one of Bernie’s helpers will collect them.

As well as collecting donations, Rob spoke with Adam Townsend, manager of Aylesbury Vineyard Storehouse, to learn how the team there is handling the increased demand on its services as a result of the coronavirus crisis.

The Storehouse provides food parcels for local people most in need and is asking for donations of essential food items or money to help provide this vital service.

Rob said: “I was pleased to be able to help out with this fantastic initiative: using Bernie the Bus as a focal point for donations is a great idea, and I am grateful to the organisers and volunteers who have already made it a success.

“I was touched by the generosity and community spirit shown by the residents of Berryfields that kindly made donations and I know this is mirrored all across Bucks.

“I would also like to thank everybody who has made a donation of food or money to Aylesbury Vineyard Storehouse. Their donations are making a big difference to local people

during the coronavirus crisis.

"The work of the Storehouse is a vital lifeline for many local people and so I would like to encourage local residents to check when Bernie is coming to

their area, because this is a great way to help those in need without going further than the end of your path.”
