Aylesbury-Milton Keynes train link WILL be built on time

Network Rail has confirmed it will build the East-West rail link from Aylesbury to Milton Keynes as ‘soon as possible’, calming fears that the project would face massive delays.

There were widespread conerns amongst local politicians that work on the scheme, which would also include a station at Winslow, would be delayed until 2022.

However, the government-commissioned Hendy report still lists the project in its 2015-2019 schedule. Transport minister Patrick McLoughlin has accepted the recommendations in the report.

Aylesbury MP David Lidington said it was ‘excellent news’: “This confirmation shows that the Department for Transport and Network Rail are continuing to work hard towards completing the East-West line, which will provide valuable extra capacity and improved service for people in the Aylesbury area.

He will ‘continue to press ministers to make sure that it is completed’ as soon as possible.
