A farmworker from Adstock has won a top award at the Farmers Weekly Awards.
Roger Knibbs, of Adstockfields Farm, was crowned Farmworker of the Year in the awards sponsored by Isuzu UK. Roger has been involved with Adstockfields Farm for almost 50 years and received his award at a ceremony in London hosted by comedian and actor Hugh Dennis.
Roger said: “I’ve never missed a single day in all the years. Most people sit on the sofa when they get to their sixties, but that won’t be me.”
The judges said: “He’s the person who keeps everything running. He’ll ring up and say ‘has this been done? Has that been done?’”
His original plan was to become an apprentice at the Ford plant in Essex but he broke his leg in a motorbike accident and started on the farm in 1968, following his father.
