The opening event was at Jeacock’s Orchard in Cow Lane, where there were frog races, spinning and weaving demonstrations and music performances.

Tempus Experientia acted out a recruitment drive for Great War soldiers during the Apple Day event on Sunday.

There were also charity stalls and refreshments – not to mention honey and apple sales.

Apple Fayre spokesman Christine Hopkins said: “Other events will be taking place throughout October.

“The Apple Cart procession through Tring High Street and special Farmers’ market will be on October 25.”
