A patron of Rennie Grove Hospice Care has caused a stir by commenting on a weatherlady’s ‘isobars’ during a morning TV show that he presents.

Carol Kirkwood set Bill Turnbull’s temperature racing after her BBC Breakfast forecast on Tuesday morning.

The 52-year-old weather presenter was wearing a red, figure-hugging dress that revealed a flash of cleavage.

Married father-of-two Mr Turnbull saw his opportunity to take a break from presenting the news to engage in some casual flirtation.

He said: “I was taking great interest in your isobars there. Would you say they are tightly packed?”

Ms Kirkwood then seemed to indulge Mr Turnbull, who lived near the Tring base of Rennie Grove before BBC Breakfast’s broadcasting hub was moved to Salford in 2012.

She said: “They are quite tightly packed, yes - nice bit of squeeze going on there.”

Mr Turnbull’s co-presenter Louise Minchin appeared to awkwardly hide behind her hand. She said: “Oh Carol, she’s brilliant, isn’t she?”
