The Batchelors – Con and Dez Clusky and John Stokes – were mobbed by hundreds of fans when they visited Woolworths in Friars Square in February 1977 to promote their latest single, Torn between Two Loves.

The trio’s first hit had been 10 years earlier with Charmaine which sold more than 250,000 copies.
