£25,000 to reprint Aylesbury Vale's council tax bills after error

Aylesbury Vale District Council were forced to shell out nearly £25,000 to resend council tax bills after an error. The council had to pay £24,215.96 to resend the letters to homes across the Vale, after they originally went out with a numerical error in the precept calculation. However, the error did not affect the final tax bill calculation, and the amount that householders have to pay is the same in both letters.

AVDC’s Director, Andrew Small, said that he was disappointed to have had to spend the money and apologised to residents.

He said: “Due to an error that was identified in the breakdown of council tax on the bills sent out to residents of Aylesbury Vale, all households have now received a new bill, along with a letter explaining the correction.

“After working hard to make £16 million of savings from our budget over the last seven years, it is disappointing that this mistake has come at a cost and we wholeheartedly apologise to residents.”
