Herts County Council is spending £271,000 on the works, which will be carried out in four phases until June 18.

Phase one, which will last three nights, runs from the A41 westbound at the Hemel Hempstead slip road up to and including the Stoney Lane/Upper Bourne End Lane roundabout.

Phase two will see work carried out between the A41 westbound from the Bourne End slip road and the A4251 roundabout. The A41 will be closed overnight from Friday, June 12 and the A4251 will be closed overnight on Monday, June 15.

The third phase involves the A41 on/off slip roads eastbound and westbound at Chesham on Tuesday, June 16.

Phase four takes place overnight on Wednesday, June 17, eastbound at the interchange roundabout in Tring.

Councillor Terry Douris, who oversees highways, said: “These works form part of the council’s ongoing commitment to maintain and improve our roads for the benefit of all road users.

“We appreciate that the road closure is likely to cause disruption and inconvenience to motorists and would ask everyone for their co-operation while the work is in progress.”
