Councillors Brian Roberts, Sue and Bill Chapple, Mark Winn, Roger King and Denise Summers, joined forces with the local Scouts, Guides and their parents on March 4 to clear away a huge amount of litter as part of the National Great British Spring Clean Campaign.

With equipment provided by Aylesbury Town Council, the target was the sports field on Wendover Way where 16 bags of rubbish were collected.

A spokesman from the local campaign said: “Apart from the benefit of clearing away this rubbish, this brilliant bunch of youngsters learnt much about the perils of littering and the problems this causes.

“Some of the stranger things we found were two discus, an old wallet and a green rubber duck.”
