A garden town and some villages set to grow by 50%

A public consultation will begin in July, where residents can have their say on the draft document.

Under the plan, Aylesbury would become a garden town, surrounded by green open spaces and transport links.

But the patch of green belt between Wendover and the RAF Halton Camp could be approved for development despite its protected status.

Andy Kirkham, head of forward planning at the district council, said: “The threat from the government is that we lose local control, and as much as people think that their councils are not involved and available, it would be far worse if central government got involved. Leaflets explaining the consultation process have gone, or are going through every door in the Vale, and we hope that people will get involved and tell us what they think.”

The consultation invites people to submit their views via a special www.aylesburyvaledc.gov.uk/local plan website and displays on the proposals will go up in Haddenham, Buckingham, Aylesbury, Newton Longville, Wendover, Aylesbury, Winslow and at the Bucks County Show. Councillors will discuss the plans at their next meeting on June 28.
