Chilfest will still go ahead in 2021 despite postponed end of lockdown

Prime Minister Boris Johnson s decision to postpone lockdown by four weeks jeopardised this year's Chilfest.

The popular Chiltern Hills festival was planned for July 10, but now has a new date for just after the end of lockdown restrictions on July 19.

The two-day festival will take place on Friday July 23 and Saturday July 24.

Event director Steve Butcher commented on the challenges of rearranging a festival for a fourth time, saying: "We’re always so humbled by our customers – they are so understanding and help us stay positive in the face of adversity.

"It’s been a tough year. Our entire industry is struggling, staff and crew are suffering with poor mental health and the stress has been unbelievable… but we are now more determined than ever to lay on the biggest and best Chilfest ever seen."

Friday will see various artists perform under the theme of Totally Tribute. A series of well known tribute acts will take to the stage before headliners, The Bootleg Beatles rework some of the most famous songs ever written in the UK.

The festival will also feature cover acts belting out some of the most well known singalongs going, Queen and Oasis-themed sets are planned. Their songs will be played live by aptly named acts Queen One Vision and Noasis. ABBA:Revival, will also perform the timeless Swedish pop groups famous songs.

Still going strong, Adam Ant, headlines Saturday's Main Event themed day. Aylesbury resident and 80s legend, Tony Hadley is scheduled to perform. Other acts include: Fine Young Cannibal Roland Gift, Imagination's Leee John, Boney M featuring Maizie Williams, The Real Thing, Blancmange and The Christians.

The festival takes place up in the Chiltern Hills by Pendley Manor in Tring, it has been running for seven years.
