The Bucks Herald brings you a host of brilliant photographs from the visit of Prince Philip to Aylesbury 63 years ago, when he was 36 years old.

Buckingham Palace confirmed in a statement last week that Prince Philip passed away peacefully on Friday (April 9) morning at Windsor Castle.

There will be a ceremonial royal funeral held at St George's Chapel, in the grounds of Windsor Castle, at 3pm this Saturday (April 17). The event will be televised.

Prince Philip is reported to have requested a low key funeral of minimal fuss.

Looking back into the archives to 1958 it would have been difficult to keep his visit to Aylesbury low key when Prince Philip came to the Hazell Watson and Viney factory.

The printing and publishing firm opened a branch in Aylesbury in 1867 where mostly books were printed and had a works built on Tring Road in 1878.

Periodic expansions followed and by 1939 the firm's employees numbered more than 1,700.

One of the company's most illustrious occasions, though, was undoubtedly the visit of Prince Phillip in 1958. And The Bucks Herald was on hand to capture the royal visit on camera.

The Prince arrived in Aylesbury Vale by helicopter and can be seen being welcomed to the town. He was then given a tour of the Hazell Watson and Viney works and was presented with a gift by a young girl. Prince Philip also signed a book - presumably the factory's guest log - during his visit.
