Stoke Mandeville Hospital maternity and gynaecology wards relocated for up to a year

Aylesbury's Stoke Mandeville Hospital is relocating its maternity and gynaecology wards for up to a year so the current facilities can be upgraded.

The services will be moved to a different part of the hospital so new purpose-built facilities can be used.

The hospital advises that all patients who have scheduled antenatal or gynaecology appointments will be advised on where to go ahead of their session.

A spokesperson for the Buckinghamshire NHS Trust said: "The Trust has taken appropriate measures to ensure a safe and high standard of care is maintained during the work to improve our facilities.

"To maintain safe social distancing the Trust will continue to request that patients arrive no more than 10 minutes before appointments to prevent overcrowding of waiting areas."

Building work will begin this summer and continue until spring next year, the trust advises.

A trust spokesperson added: "The improvements to maternity and gynaecology facilities are part of a programme of building work taking place at the Trust to ensure that our hospital buildings and facilities offer the best healthcare environments for our patients care and staff."
