Extra Covid vaccinations available without an appointment in Aylesbury this weekend

Stoke Mandeville Stadium will be used to administer extra drop-in Covid vaccinations this weekend.

The Buckinghamshire Clinical Commissioning Group (BCCG) confirms today that vaccinations protecting against the coronavirus will be available without an appointment on Friday and Saturday June 11-12.

Members of the public who turn up carrying an ID who know their NHS number can receive a first or second dose of the Astra Zeneca vaccine.

First dose vaccines are available to over 40s yet to book an appointment to receive a jab. The second dose vaccines will be delivered to anyone over 18 who is eligible to receive another jab.

Walk-in jabs will run from the stadium between 9:30am to 1pm and 2pm and 5pm on the Friday, Saturday's session is between 9am- to 1pm.

The BCCG advises that the vaccinations are available whether you are a permanent Bucks resident or not. Advice on how to find your NHS number is available on the health service's website.

If you cannot find your NHS number you can still take advantage of the walk-in clinic, but may have to wait longer to get jabbed, NHS officials advise.

Dr Raj Bajwa, GP and Chair of BCCG said: “We want to make it as easy as possible for people to access the vaccine. With busy working lives and families to look after we know that lots of people find it easier to simply pop along to the clinics and get vaccinated. It's usually a very quick process and people can be in and out in 15-20 minutes

"New variants of any virus are always cause for concern, but a double hit of vaccine as well as being sensible about how you behave afterwards is the key to a return to a more normal way of life. One dose of the current vaccines isn't going to protect you as well as two - we urge everyone to make sure and attend that 2nd appointment"

The BCCG advises more drop-in vaccinations are planned across Bucks over the coming weeks.
