On a day when the Hertfordshire market town with a population of approximately 12,000 would usually be bustling with shoppers, only a handful of people and an infrequent car could be spotted.
On 23 March, the whole of the UK joined much of the rest of the world in lockdown, with the Government closing pubs, restaurants, gyms, schools, as well as non-essential stores such as clothes shops.

Hide AdPeople have also been told they can only leave home for food shopping, medical requirements or for one form of exercise a day.
Last week it was revealed that Police across the country have so far issued 1,084 fines to people breaking lockdown rules.
However, Herts Police have urged the public to 'use common sense' when reporting breaches of the social distancing rules.
In a statement, Herts Police added: “Please be aware that we will not be able to dispatch officers for minor infringements of these rules.”

Hide AdDuring the Government's daily press conference on the coronavirus crisis, Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab said, "We're still not past the peak of this virus," and as such doesn't expect lockdown restrictions to change when reviewed later this week.
