PM and Health Secretary test positive for coronavirus as Bucks cases rise to 106

The number of confirmed cases of coronavirus in Buckinghamshire has increased by 40 in the past 24 hours, taking the total 106.

The number of deaths from coronavirus across the UK also rose sharply by 181, taking the total 759.

14,759 people have now tested positive for the disease in the UK, including Prime Minister Boris Johnson, Health Secretary Matt Hancock and Prince Charles.

Mr Johnson and Mr Hancock both revealed their positive tests on Friday morning, while Prince Charles announced his diagnosis on Wednesday. All three say they have mild symptoms and are carrying on working from home in self-isolation, in line with public health guidance.

The UK government's chief medical officer, Professor Chris Whitty, has said he is self-isolating after experiencing symptoms of coronavirus.

On Wednesday it was revealed that 21-year-old Chloe Middleton from High Wycombe became the UK's youngest victim with no underlying health conditions.

We also know that at least two people sadly died at Stoke Mandeville hospital last week and two more died at Wycombe hospital.

Globally the number of people who have contracted coronavirus is 577,619, of which 26,447 have died.

- Wash your hands

- Stay at home

If you have symptoms of coronavirus:

- Do not come into hospital or any healthcare facility

- Go to NHS Online to check your symptoms and follow the specialist medical advice

- Only call NHS 111 if you can’t get online or your symptoms worsen
