Latest coronavirus figures: Bucks cases increase by a third overnight

The change represents the worst 24 hours for Buckinghamshire since the crisis began by a significant margin.

The number of deaths from coronavirus in the UK also rose sharply, by 563 in the past 24 hours, the biggest daily increase for the second day running, meaning 2,352 have now died from the disease in total across the country.

Currently, 29,474 have tested positive for coronavirus in the UK, but only hospitalised patients and some doctors and nurses are being tested here, so tens of thousands more are thought to have contracted the virus.

Across the globe, at least 924,886 people have been infected with coronavirus, of which 46,375 have died.
