Coronavirus update: The number of deaths in Bucks rises to 229 as lockdown measures ease

The number of confirmed deaths from coronavirus in Buckinghamshire has risen to 229 after four new deaths were reported in the region's hospitals between Thursday and Sunday last week.

Data shows that 117 people in total have now died with coronavirus in Buckinghamshire hospitals between 5 March – 31 May, and 112 people in total have died in care homes in the region between 10 April – 22 May. Statistics for Buckinghamshire do not include Milton Keynes.

In the United Kingdom a further 111 people have been reported to have died with coronavirus in the past 24 hours, the lowest daily rise since lockdown began.

The total number of people known to have died with coronavirus in the UK is now 39,045 in 13 weeks.

Globally, 374,864 are now known to have died after testing positive for coronavirus across the world.

From today, the following activities are now permitted which were not between 23 March – 31 May:

- Spending time outdoors, including in private gardens and other outdoor spaces, in groups of up to six people from different households, following social distancing guidelines

- Visiting car showrooms and outdoor markets

- In line with the arrangements made by your school, sending your child to school or nursery if they are in early years, reception, year 1 or year 6, if you could not before

- If you are an elite athlete as defined by this guidance, training and competing using the specified gyms, pools and sports facilities you need - which will, in the coming weeks, we hope enable others to watch live sport on TV

Government guidelines to help stop the spread of the virus are:

Stay alert. This means you must:

- Stay at home as much as possible

- Work from home if you can

- Limit contact with other people

- Keep 2 metres apart where possible

Wash your hands regularly

Do not leave home if you or anyone in your household has symptoms.
