Coronavirus update: positive numbers for Bucks and haircuts on the horizon!

There have been no new reported deaths from coronavirus in Buckinghamshire in the last 24 hours despite the release of weekly care home data which often causes a spike in numbers.

Therefore number of people who have died from the disease in Buckinghamshire remains at 245.

It is the first time since the beginning of April that no new deaths have been reported over a weekly period in care homes in Buckinghamshire. There have also been no new deaths reported in the past 24 hours in the region's hospitals.

Data shows that 125 people are reported to have died in hospitals in Buckinghamshire with coronavirus between 1 March – 22 June, and 120 people have died in the region's care homes with the virus between 10 April – 19 June. Data for Buckinghamshire does not include figures for Milton Keynes.

Today it has been announced that from the 4 July the two metre social distancing rule will be reduced to one metre in England. Two households of any size will also be able to meet indoors.

Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland are retaining the two metre rule.

Perhaps more significantly, from the 4 July in England pubs, restaurants, hotels and cinemas will be able to reopen – and we will all finally be able to get a haircut!

There will be special safety guidelines in pubs and restaurants – including providing contact details upon entering the establishment.

The following businesses will remain closed:

- Nightclubs and casinos

- Bowling alleys and skating rings

- Nail bars and beauty salons

- Indoor gyms

- Swimming pools

Across the UK, the death toll has risen by 280 in the past 24 hours. The number of people who have sadly lost their lives to the disease in the United Kingdom is now 42,927.

Globally, coronavirus has now claimed the lives of 475,145 people.
