Coronavirus update: Latest data reveals deaths in Bucks near 200

The number of deaths from coronavirus in Buckinghamshire has risen to 193 – an increase of 30 from the same time last week following the release of the latest care home figures.

Data shows that 104 people have now died with coronavirus in Buckinghamshire hospitals between 5 March – 11 May and 89 people have died in care homes in the region between 10 April – 8 May. Statisitics for Buckinghamshire do not include Milton Keynes.

Across the country, 32,692 are now sadly reported to have died with coronavirus – an increase of 3,198 since the same time last week and 627 in the last 24 hours.

On Sunday evening, the Prime Minister launched a new set of slogans to communicate the Government's updated approach to tackling the virus. The new instructions are to: Stay Alert, Control the Virus, Save Lives.

During the televised broadcast Boris Johnson communicated some changes to the current lockdown restrictions. The key takeouts are:

- People who can't work from home should now return to work if they can do so safely

- Face coverings advised to be worn in enclosed public spaces (not medical grade face masks which should be reserved for healthcare workers)

- People can now meet up with one other person from outside their household if social distancing is maintained

- People can go out and exercise as often as they wish

- The minimum fine for breaking lockdown restrictions has been increased to £100

Mr Johnson also indicated that some schools could reopen in June.

Globally, 288,975 people are now known to have died after contracting coronavirus.
