Across the country the death toll has continued to rise over the weekend with more than 1,300 people sadly passing away. 4,934 people have now died from coronavirus in the UK.

47,806 people have tested positive for coronavirus in the UK since the outbreak emerged, but since only a 0.3% of the population has currently been tested it is expected the true number is far higher.

On Sunday evening it was revealed that Prime Minister Boris Johnson had been taken to hospital with “persistent symptoms” of the disease having tested positive for coronavirus on Thursday 27 March.

Globally, 1.3 million people are known to have contracted coronavirus with 70,182 people dying from the disease.

The latest NHS advice to help stop the spread of coronavirus is that you should only leave the house for one of the four following reasons:

- Shopping for basic necessities, for example food and medicine, which must be as infrequent as possible

- One form of exercise a day, for example a run, walk, or cycle – alone or with members of your household

- Any medical need, or to provide care or to help a vulnerable person

- Travelling to and from work, but only where this absolutely cannot be done from home

- Ensure you are two metres apart from anyone outside of your household

You should also:

- Wash your hands with soap and water often – for at least 20 seconds

- Wash your hands as soon as you get home
