GCSEs: Cottesloe’s head delighted with pass rate

The school achieved 66% of students gaining five A*-C grades with English and Maths, a 7% increase on the 2013 results.

Headteacher Andy McBurnie said: “The very high A*-C GCSE pass rates in a wide range of subject areas throughout the school reflects the outstanding effort of both students and staff and our belief in each individual child.

“I am so pleased the students have received the grades their hard work warranted. 14% of all the exams taken were passed at A*/A grades.

“The increased academic focus of the students and the improvement in the quality of teaching has resulted in an increase of 16% pass rate in the past two years. To say I am delighted would be an understatement.”

GCSE subjects which enjoyed very high A*-C grades include French achieving 90%; Ethics 83%; English Language 81% and Physics 81%. The school added that some individual student performances were particularly outstanding.
