Students across Aylesbury Vale have been celebrating success in their A-Levels today (Thursday).

At Sir Henry Floyd Grammar School A level students did very well with more than three quarters getting the top three entry grades while there was a 100% pass rate. Twenty-four A level students got three A grades or better.

Headteacher Stephen Box said: “Our students are so hungry to learn these days that they are expecting a huge amount from their teachers.

“Luckily our staff are equally committed to their students success.”

Also in Aylesbury, a statement from The Grange School read: “Today’s results fully reflect the hard work put in by our students and teachers over the past couple of years.

“All of our students have obtained the grades they need for the courses they want to study at university and for the careers they want to go into.

“We are extremely proud and pleased for all of them.

“In terms of results, we have had another increase in the percentage of students achieving 3 A*-E grades in their A levels and the average points score per A level entry has also increased significantly from 2015.

“For vocational subjects, the average point score per vocational entry is again higher than national average with the average grade of a Distinction+.”

In terms of other schools in the Vale, The overall pass rate for John Colet students was 97% with 34% achieving A* - B and 64% securing A*-C.

Top performing students included Tabby Taberer (A* Psychology, A Biology, A Travel and Tourism) and Aidan Evans-Jesra (A* History, A Psychology, B English Literature)

Headteacher Christine McLintock said: “I am incredibly proud of the students achievements this year.

“These results reflect the students commitment to their studies and the support and encouragement they receive from the staff.”

At the Cottesloe School in Wing there was also great news on the A-level front, with the school seeing a 12% increase in the number of exams passed at A*- B, and 70% of all exams taken being passed with higher grades.

Notable performances came from Chloe McMinn with A*A A A, who is going on to study English at UEA London; Catherine Shacklock A* A* A, studying Business Management at Birmingham; Olivia Cowling, A A A, Product Design & Engineering, Nottingham, and Tom Rolls A* A B taking History at Loughborough.

Headteacher Andrew McBurnie said: “We are delighted to see another year of improvement in our A level results and this can be credited to the hard work and commitment of both students and staff.”

Meanwhile, at Tring School students celebrated outstanding A-level and BTEC results with 49.6% of students achieving A*, A and Distinction grades – increasing the number of pupils receiving top grades by 17%.

Head Girl Carys Reid-Davies achieved 2A*s and A, accomplished alongside the extensive leadership responsibilities she has held during the academic year.

Carys is going on to study Film, Photography and Media at the University of Leeds.

Amongst the many other A-level success stories some of the high performers include Jack Murphy who achieved 3 A*s, Lauren Renshaw with two A*s and one A and James Child (who will be studying veterinary medicine at Cambridge) with one A* and three As.

Oliver Ayling and Emily Durrant both achieved one A* and two As. Meanwhile Olivia Dawson and Victoria Gibbons both achieved three As.

In the BTEC qualifications, James Gurnett achieved two Distinction*s (equivalent to an A* at A Level) and one Distinction, whilst Imogen Davies achieved two Distinction*s and one B at A Level.
