Waddesdon on alert as police hunt man reported to be 'carrying knife'

Many residents had reported the presence of a police helicopter in the area.

Thames Valley Police said: "This incident is relating to a fear for welfare of a man who was seen in the area walking away from a van.

"There were some reports that he may have been carrying a knife.

"We are searching for this man and have officers in the area, but there is no suggestion of a wider threat to the public.

"Schools have been advised accordingly and our officers are continuing their search."

Concerned parents said on facebook they had been contacted by schools in the area that suggested they had gone into lockdown until it was safe again.

Waddesdon Church of England Junior School and Waddesdon Secondary School have been contacted for a comment.
