He was inspired by the courage and resilience of Archie Hill, who lives with the life-limiting condition Duchenne muscular dystrophy which causes muscles to weaken and waste over time. Tim’s JustGiving page can be found here.

Tim says: “I got to know Archie and his family through mutual friends and my involvement with Chalfont and Burnham football clubs, where Archie’s brother Leyton plays.

When I met Archie and his parents and heard their incredible story I felt inspired and invigorated by the way they have faced up to their challenges and wanted to help”.

Under guidance online from a PT instructor, Tim is crunching his way through a gruelling routine of 15 x 23 per minute bursts until he has completed his daily goal.

He added: “I’ve always been sporty to a degree, though I’m not at the fitness level I’d like to be – but I think I will be after this!”

As the recent founder of print specialist company FOC Audit in Burnham, which has announced MDUK as its official charity, Tim has also faced his own challenges this year.

“No one could have known how the pandemic would affect everyone’s lives,” he explained, “but this has certainly been a difficult time to start a new business”.

But Tim is an experienced and successful businessman and remains optimistic for the future.

“I think we all have to be mindful of how the pandemic is affecting people’s lives and reflect on how things will change, but hopefully for the better. This experience has certainly opened my eyes and helped me to focus”.

FOC Audit, he says, will continue to donate 10% of its profits to the charity to ensure the giving continues and the work carried out by MDUK remains in the public profile. More information about MDUK’s campaign to support Archie and his family can be found here.

Louise Moffatt, Regional Development Manager at MDUK, said: “We are immensely impressed at Tim’s dedication to raising much-needed funds for Muscular Dystrophy UK and wish him all the best of luck as he crunches his way towards his £2,000 target.

"We are also hugely grateful that Tim’s company has announced MDUK as its official partner, a move that will help the charity recoup vital funds lost amid the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.”
