Julia Parker Summer, Sarah Williams and Sara Louise Aston are all working to raise funds after their lives had been tragically touched by cancer.

They had all been looking forward to take part in the London 2020 Shine Marathon Walk, however, like the London Marathon, it has been kicked to the curb because of coronavirus.

The ladies had participated in the challenge the year before and were keen to take part again to not only raise more money for the charity CANCER RESEARCH but also to beat their own personal targets.

Julia Lindquist, 40, lost her Dad to a malignant brain tumour in 1999 and has participated in a several 5k runs (again fundraising for Cancer) over the years and walked a tough 17 miles last year through the London night.

Sarah (41) began her charity challenges' in 2009 by running her first "Race for Life".

Her mum had just been given the all clear from Colon Cancer back then and since that year Sarah has continued to apply herself to walk and running challenges.

Sarah said: "In 2009 my mum got the all clear from Colon Cancer, my Grandma had previously survived Breast Cancer twice and now my step mother in law and my husbands cousin are battling with it.

"My step mother in law was given 18 months to live 2 years ago so we fear the end is near.

"Last week a friend also announced she had breast cancer so I would like to dedicate my walk this year to everyone who is currently battling with Cancer. Let's raise lots of money."

Sara Aston, 41, is walking for her her friend Sheree Bird lost her mum (Angela Wilkins aged 71) on the 27th November, last year to Cancer and Sara will be dedicating her walk to her.

Sara use to bunk off from PE lessons during school so her lifestyle now is quite the contrast to back then.

She said: "Angela Wilkins, mum to one of my eldest friends (Sheree Bird) was a fantastic human. How can I not walk for this lady!

"Angela passed away in November 2019 and this is in her memory AND to raise money and to increase awareness.

"We need to be more aware than ever...What ever the weather!!!"

Sara also completed the London Marathon in 2018.

The ladies had been training hard for Shine 2020...But then of course...Covid 19 kicked in and all sports events were cancelled including the "Shine Marathon" so the ladies decided they would plan their own routed walk.

Sarah being great at Geography has planned a walk of 26 miles starting in Aylesbury (Buckinghamshire) and then finishing in Harpendon (Hertfordshire).

They decided on this route as Sarah and Julia live in Aylesbury (Bucks) and Sara lives in Hertford (Herts) This has been arranged for Saturday 12th September and the ladies will start their challenge early morning wearing their charity t-shirts and rattling that charity bucket.

A charity comedy night is also pending to support the ladies fundraising target but in the meantime people can sponsor the ladies at their pages.
