In March, HS2 took possession of the wood and the surrounding farms using compulsory purchase orders.

Ross Monaghan, who has been camped at the site since March put out a facebook live video earlier.

In it, he called for protestors to "help stop and disrupt HS2 contractors."

He said: "We're here to protect just one of 20 Ancient Woodlands which HS2 said they are going to relocate and cut down during October.

"These are amazing woods, with a unique ecology and wildlife.

"HS2 are going to forcefully remove us and destroy this incredible habitat that inspired Fantastic Mr Fox, it's part of our cultural and literary history.

"They are committing ecocide on these woods."

An HS2 spokesperson said:

“These protests are a danger to the safety of the protestors, our staff and the general public, and put unnecessary strain on the emergency services.

"The land at Jones Hill Wood is legally owned by HS2 and we need safe access to begin archaeology and ecology work.

“All leading wildlife organisations agree that climate change is the biggest future threat to wildlife and habitats in the UK.

"By providing a cleaner, greener way to travel, HS2 will help cut the number of cars and lorries on our roads, cut demand for domestic flights, and help the country’s fight against climate change. We’d urge environmental groups to help us in getting people out of their cars, off planes and onto low-carbon, high speed rail.

“In Buckinghamshire, HS2 has already planted more than 70,000 new trees to help create bigger and more joined up woodlands for future generations and valuable new wildlife habitats.”
