Luton Airport worker suffers heart attack after being ‘crushed’ by hangar door

It is believed that the driver, who works for Signature Flight Support, collapsed after she was trapped by the door for Hangar 63.

Following the incident, which occurred at 8.10pm last night, medics were dispatched to Luton Airport and performed life support on the woman who had gone into cardiac arrest.

The victim, who is thought to be in her 50s, was then airlifted to Addenbrooke’s Hospital in a critical condition.

The EAAA confirmed that woman had suffered head injuries in the incident.

EEAST sent a rapid response car, an ambulance and two officers to the scene, while the air ambulance crew landed outside the hangar.

A Signature company spokesperson told the Luton News: “Last night, a member of our Signature Flight Support team was seriously injured at our London Luton Airport location.

“The individual involved remains in a critical but stable condition.

“The entire Signature Flight Support team extends its heartfelt thoughts and prayers to the individual involved and their family and loved ones.

“The situation remains under investigation by the authorities and Signature Flight Support is cooperating fully with this investigation.

“We cannot release any further information at this time pending the outcome of the investigation.”

The Health and Safety Executive has said that it is aware of the incident and it is helping Bedfordshire Police with its enquries.

A Beds Police spokesperson said: “We were called at approximately 8.45pm last night (28 April) to reports of a woman who had sustained serious injuries at Luton Airport.

“Emergency services attended and the woman was taking to hospital in a life-threatening condition.

“The incident is not being treated as suspicious and the investigation has been passed to the Health and Safety Executive.”
