Berryfields Parish Council Christmas stockings initiative for children of families affected by Covid-19. The funding will also include food parcels for known families in need.

Waddesdon Support Group to provide a dedicated phone line and delivery service for residents to receive their prescriptions via local shops.

Paul Irwin, Vice-Chair of the board has been heavily involved in the work of the Bernie Bus Christmas campaign which aims to help those most in need. Projects include providing Christmas meal ingredients to over 200 local families and plans to provide elderly and vulnerable residents who would like it with takeaway meals from local pubs and restaurants. Paul said: "We are grateful to the Haddenham & Waddesdon Community Board for donating to our Christmas appeal to help those in crisis this Christmas. Local residents and businesses have also been extremely generous throughout the year. It's great to see what fantastic community spirit we have here and we hope that our efforts will help provide some much needed festive cheer to those who need it."

Last night the board also formally approved £11,000 of funding to Ashendon Parish Council to install a footpath to allow residents to walk safely through the village.

Like the other 15 community boards across the county, Haddenham & Waddesdon has highlighted a number of priorities for 2020/21. These are:

Covid-19 recovery

Environment and green spaces

Highways and road safety

Travel and transport

Smaller working groups have been created to focus on the priorities and further funding is available towards projects and initiatives tackling these areas. The Haddenham & Waddesdon Environment and Green Spaces Working Group is partnering with BBOWT (Berks, Bucks and Oxon Wildlife Trust) and Chiltern Rangers on an exciting project which will involve residents, community groups and parishes who want to attract wildlife into their green spaces, however large or small and provide projects that families can work on together to herald in Spring. There could also be a prize or two for those who take part.

Michael Rand, Chair of the Haddenham & Waddesdon Community Board said: “It’s great that we can really start making an impact within our local communities by supporting projects and initiatives like these. This is exactly what community boards are all about, working with local people to listen to what they want and then taking action to improve and enhance our local area for everyone’s benefit.

Community boards are the local link between Buckinghamshire Council and the community, enabling communities to have a stronger voice, influencing how services are delivered, identifying local priorities and working together to improve local areas.
