Coronavirus update October 21: 26,688 people test positive in ONE day in the UK

There have been 789,229 positive tests in the UK since the pandemic began.

There have been 44,158 deaths in the UK since the pandemic began.

58,164 have died with COVID-19 on the death certificate, according to government statistics on https://coronavirus.data.gov.uk/The government explains this by saying:

"Total number of deaths of people whose death certificate mentioned COVID-19 as one of the causes, registered up to Friday, 25 September 2020.

"Provisional counts of the number of deaths registered in the UK where COVID-19 is mentioned as a cause on the death certificate. The deceased may not have had a confirmed positive test for COVID-19. People who had had COVID-19 but did not have it mentioned on their death certificate as a cause of death are excluded."

There are currently 6,479 patients in hospital with Coronavirus.
