Aylesbury leisure centre celebrates successful reopening week

A leisure centre in Buckinghamshire is celebrating a successful first week after seeing many new and returning members through the doors.

Aqua Vale Swimming and Fitness Centre, reopened its doors on Monday 12 April after over three months of closure due to the UK-wide lockdown.

A spokesperson for the leisure centre outlined the Covid safety protocols carried out on site, it included: "one-way systems, enhanced cleaning regimes and structured sessions."

Over 2,200 people booked a leisure swimming session in the first week of opening, meaning 98% of sessions were filled.

Since reopening, the team has also seen over 120 new sign ups in swimming lessons and gym memberships.

Chris Williams, Contract Manager at Everyone Active, commented: “The response we’ve received from our members has been overwhelmingly positive and we’re so pleased to see many new and returning members through our doors.

“We are also looking forward to being able to open even more facilities, such as our group exercise classes, in the next step of the government road map.”

Aqua Vale Swimming and Fitness Centre is run by Everyone Active in partnership with Buckinghamshire Council.
