Thomas said: "Last year's been absolute gutting with regards to my running.

"I was supposed to run the Frankfurt Marathon in October 2019 but I got really badly injured, then I trained for the Wrexham Marathon and got myself into shape for that before it was cancelled because of Coronavirus.

"I thought, I'm not letting that happen this year and wanted to do something big to get the year off to a flyer."

Thomas will be balancing his marathon running with his full time job as an engineer.
