"Elton and Jack have set themselves an incredibly hard challenge throughout this month of raising money for the Stroke Association by running 1 km for the corresponding date of the month.

"The first week was easy..1 km on 1st February, 2 on the 2nd etc.

"But the final week is now here and they need all the support they can get!

"It is challenging them both physically and mentally."

As of yesterday (Tuesday 23) the pair have run 253km which is roughly the equivalent of nearly six marathons.

Gay added they are already feeling 'the aches and pains' that endurance running causes.

The pair still have 153kms over the next six days, which adds up to 3.5 marathons.

The pair have started a Gofundme which has nearly raised £2,000, but they are hoping that Bucks Herald readers can dig deep and donate to this fantastic cause.

He said: "Today we are running from Hemel back to Aylesbury, as it's exactly 24km.

"I'm trying the best I can to will on my legs, but they just don't want to do it!

"You've just got to think why we are doing it for inspiration, the Stroke Association is an amazing charity and they have had their fundraising slashed by the Coronavirus pandemic.

Elton said seeing his grandmother have a stroke on Christmas Eve in front of the whole family, and the work he saw the Stroke Association do, inspired him and Jack to try and raise money for this great charity.

"It was traumatic.

"Jack was absolutely horrified - It's taken a few years for him to get through it.

"His commitment to the cause has been inspiring though, a 17-year-old getting up at the crack of dawn to put the miles in for this great charity.

"I'm very proud of him."
