Aylesbury Vale's Puddle Ducks return to the pool

Puddle Ducks, who specialise in providing swimming lessons for babies from birth and children up to the age of 10 alongside Aquanatal sessions for mums-to-be, were forced to halt their swimming lessons due to the nationwide lockdown.

Pools have been allowed to reopen since 25th July, but Puddle Ducks pushed back their relaunch date to September in order to ensure that their venues are completely safe and fully up to date with the company’s comprehensive COVID-19 guidelines.

Since then, plenty of hard work has gone into making sure that lessons can restart safely, with the company going above and beyond to ensure the safety of their little swimmers.

Over 140 lesson plans have been rewritten with slight changes to the usual format of classes, however sessions continue to deliver high quality teaching in small groups which focus on individual development and fun.

Emma Nicol, owner of Puddle Ducks Cherwell and Aylesbury Vale, has commented: “We are excited to have re-started lessons and are so happy to have welcomed our children back to the pool! Lockdown has seen many youngsters miss out on 6 months of swimming, so we are delighted we can now welcome them back to lessons to continue developing their confidence in the water.

“Throughout lockdown, we have provided skills and activities for our little swimmers to practice on dry land, in the bath or in their paddling pools via our weekly newsletters, but nothing can compare to being in the pool. Learning to swim is an essential life skill, and we have made sure children can get back to lessons as safely and as soon as possible.

“We have taken extra time to relaunch our lessons to ensure our company’s COVID-19 guidelines are adhered to across all our pools. Changes to our lessons include children bringing their own equipment, or if equipment is borrowed, it is frequently disinfected and not shared between children during a lesson. We also have spaced out ‘stations’ in the pool and our teachers are now teaching from the poolside, in line with government guidelines. We’ve had a really successful start back to classes and our customers have easily adapted to our new structure, really appreciating our efforts to keep everyone safe.”
