Aylesbury MP Rob Butler "There is light at the end of the tunnel" thanks to Coronavirus vaccinations

Rob said: “The over 65s I met receiving their jabs today were thrilled to be having them. They all said how simple the process had been and were full of praise for the brilliant teams

making it happen. I was struck by the relief and smiles on the faces of many people who can now see a light at the end of the tunnel.”

The Bucks New University vaccination centre - Buckinghamshire’s first mass vaccination site - is run by staff from Oxford Health NHS Foundation Trust including pharmacists, nurses and even a dentist, who are all working to deliver jabs in as little as five minutes, twelve hours a day.

The vaccines offered in the ODEON are being coordinated by Pharmacy2U, the UK’s largest online pharmacy, with some cinema staff also returning from furlough to help.

An organiser at the cinema said: “Our teams have been working really hard to make sure everything is as safe as it can be. We’re proud to be able to help. It’s a fantastic opportunity to do our bit, support our community and to be able to lead the way to get us back on our feet.”

Rob added: “I’m delighted that we now have three sites in the Aylesbury area, meaning thousands of local people can be inoculated every week. It was fantastic to reach the Prime Minister’s target of vaccinating the top four cohorts by 15th February, and we now need to focus on completing jabs for all nine priority cohorts by the end of April.

The only constraint is the supply of vaccines from the manufacturers, and I know they’re working very hard to get as many doses out as fast as they can safely do so.
