Age Space Buckinghamshire is a practical website designed to enable families in the county to make the best decisions by helping them to navigate the complicated world of elderly care.

Age Space founder and regular Sky News commentator, Annabel James said: “1 in 10 people in Buckinghamshire consider themselves to be a carer which is why we are so pleased to be launching our new online hub to help families in the region.

"By bringing all of the components of care together in one place, showcasing local organisations alongside expert advice, we hope to ease some of the emotional stress and strain of caring for an elderly relative.”

The online site is broken down into seven easy-to-navigate sections: Care, Dementia, Enjoying Life, Health & Wellbeing, Legal, Money & Finance and End of Life. There is also a dedicated

page of Coronavirus support in Buckinghamshire, which includes advice and guides to helping older people stay safe and happy whilst shielding at home.

There were over 45,000 carers living in Buckinghamshire at the last official count in 2011, and likely far more now.

Throughout the pandemic, Age Space has been providing carers with invaluable information and advice on how best to care for their elderly relatives.

The company say there are many more issues facing people who care for their older relatives today than there were at this time last year.

The care sector has had a very difficult time throughout the Coronavirus pandemic and as we head into Winter, issues such as isolation and loneliness for the elderly are likely to be compounded by enforced local lockdowns, confusion surrounding care home visitation and the potential of repeat mass shielding for the vulnerable.

They have launched a campaign to combat this, called #PrepareToCare.

This is encouraging people to get a head start on elderly care starting with 5 conversations to have with your parents around health, finances, legal matters, care options and smart technology.

Annabel continued:

"“#preparetocare is a campaign challenge families to have the right conversations now and to put in place the plans for care so that when the unexpected happens, whether that be a sudden change in health or a national pandemic, they can make the best decisions with and for their elderly relatives.”
