Friends of Kimble School are struggling to raise money this year, as their usual film nights and Christmas Fayres which raise vital funds for the school have ground to a halt because of Coronavirus.

This means the school cannot afford the 'extras' which further enhance the learning experience for the children.

However, young Owen, one of the school's pupils, decided he wanted to make a difference and began fundraising for the school.

Owen Asprey Keeble, aged just 8 years old decided he would walk to school, all the way from Wendover, to raise funds.

He did the walk on Friday 25th September, leaving the house at 6.40 and arriving to school just before 9 o'clock.

The amazing thing is, Owen came up with the idea completely by himself.

He talked about the idea with Nanny Granny, Liz Jones's ( Chair of Friends of Kimble School) mother and keen walker, and she agreed to do it with him.

They got the maps, planned the route and had to work out how long they thought it would take in order to make sure they got to school on time!

Robyn Asprey said: "Owen has decided that he wanted to raise some money for his school by doing a sponsored walk from our house in Wendover, to school in Great Kimble - it is about 7 miles!

"He set off at 6.30 in the morning joined by his Nanny Granny Annie to make sure he got to school in time!

"This was all his own idea, so please do support him to support the school. Thank you!"

Liz Jones, Chair of Friends of Kimble School hailed Owen's amazing achievement.

She said: "What an amazing effort from Owen. He's raised over £1000 for us completely on his own.

"It was completely off his own back and a great example of how, by working together, we can make things a little better for each other during the pandemic."

He has currently raised £1,170, but you can still donate to this great cause.
