Wide range of Shakespeare productions coming to Oxford

While there has been 25 so far, there is still another dozen to go.

Shakespeare under the Sky events in June and July include Love’s Labours Lost, which throws five lovesick couples together on the banks of the Cherwell in June with a feast of wordplay, impersonations, songs and pratfalls (28-30 June).

There’s also another chance to see the same play performed in Wadham College Gardens by The Oxford Shakespeare Company (28 June-18 August). This version will be let loose in the 1970s with original music inspired by the decade.

The Globe Theatre On Tour takes over the Old Schools Quadrangle at the Bodleian Library for one of Oxford’s most spectacular summer highlights, Two Gentlemen of Verona (19-30 July).

The atmospheric backdrop of mediaeval Oxford Castle is the setting for The Taming of the Shrew (20 June-2 July), Much Ado about Nothing, (4-16 July), The Tempest (18-30 July) and a Macbeth & Midsummer Night’s Dream double-bill (1-13 August).

Thatis just a small selection of some of the shows which can be seen throughout the summer.
