Godiva is the story of the famed medieval businesswoman, Lady Godiva, who rode the streets of Coventry on horseback wearing little more than a smile, to protest about the taxes imposed on the townspeople by her own husband, Leofric, Earl of Mercia.

And now thanks to The Artfully Reliable Theatre Society (TARTS) the story will be brought to the Court Theatre stage in Tring in the form of a musical comedy. But it also has special local interest, because it was chronicled by a 13th century monk, Roger of Wendover, so named, because he was born in the town of the same name not far from Tring.

Roger features in Godiva, played by TARTS stalwart, Bryn Jones. Newcomer Cassy Childs plays Godiva, with another TARTS veteran, Charles Davey, as Leofric.

TARTS are promising another toe-tapping experience with tunes you are sure to remember. The show runs from next Wednesday (February 18) to February 21 2015.

Tickets cost between £9-£12 and are available online at
www.courttheatre.co.uk or via the box office on 07543 560 478. You can also purchase tickets from Beechwood Fine Foods, Frogmore Street, Tring, HP23 5AU (cash only).
