A spectacular season of first class shows is promised at the Waterside Theatre this summer.

The glossy new brochure is dropping through letterboxes right now and it promises a feast of top entertainment.

Award winning smash hit Broadway musical Rock of Ages arrives in June direct from the West End, followed in July by the Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber masterpiece Evita starring Marti Pellow from Wet Wet Wet.

Jason Donovan tops the bill in the whip cracking western musical Annie Get Your Gun later in the month, and this is followed by April In Paris, a comical masterpiece starring Coronation Street’s Shobna Gulati and Joe McGann from Calendar Girls.

August sees a return visit from the utterly hilarious, laugh out loud One Man, Two Guvnors which was such a sensation when it first played here with James Corden. On this trip it stars Shaun Williamson and Emma Barton from EastEnders.

Fans of the Bard will be pleased to see A Midsummer Night’s Dream in September, followed in October by Oscar Wilde’s The Importance of Being Earnest, starring theatrical stalwarts Nigel Havers, Martin Jarvis, Cherie Lunghi, Sian Phillips and Rosalind Ayres.

One night only shows sees a return from classical violinist Nigel Kennedy at the end of May, and funny men Jimmy Carr and Jim Davison in separate shows in October.
