Drama and dance feature in new season

Big-name stars and shows have been lined up for a new season at Milton Keynes Theatre starting next month.

A range of hit dramas, musicals and dance shows will be coming to the stage with stars including Sian Phillips, Robert Powell and Patrick Robinson performing.

Kicking off the season is The Importance of Being Earnest, running from September 15 to 19. Sian Phillips appears alongside an all-star cast, including Nigel Havers, Christine Kavanagh and Martin Jarvis.

Based on the hit film starring Steve Martin, the musical of Dirty Rotten Scoundrels comes to the stage and sees two swindlers attempt to hoodwink a millionnaire heiress. Musical theatre stars Michael Praed, Carley Stenson and Gary Wilmot appear.

Coming direct from the West End is King Charles III, a fictional tale which looks at the aftermath of the death of the Queen. Robert Powell appears in the title role which comes to Milton Keynes from October 12-17.

The English National Ballet serve up Lest We Forget and Romeo and Juliet in two thrilling performances from October 20-24 while the legendary entertainer Tommy Steele stars in The Glenn Miller Story, running from October 26-31.

Based on the best-selling book, the thrilling adaptation of The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time comes to Milton Keynes from November 3-7. It tells the story of 15-year-old Christopher, who embarks on a mission to find out who killed his neighbour’s dog.

The Glyndebourne Tour 2015 makes a return to Milton Keynes Theatre from November 10-14. The company perform Donizetti’s Don Pasquale, Mozart’s The Abduction from the Seraglio and Handel’s Saul.

One of the most beloved movies from all time is coming to Milton Keynes from November 16-21.

The Shawshank Redemption tells the story of an unlikely friendship between two men at the notorious Shawshank facility. Casualty’s Ian Kelsey and Patrick Robinson play the two leads in the show.

Two of the professionals from Strictly Come Dancing will be bringing their final tour to Milton Keynes from November 23-28.

Vincent Simone and Flavia Cacace appear in The LastTango and have created their most moving production yet.

One-night shows lined up will see British pop act Squeeze appear alongside John Cooper Clarke on September 29 and comedian Milton Jones appearing on October 1.

Comedian Paddy McGuinness visits Milton Keynes on October 3 while UB40 will be performing some of their many hits when they take to the stage on October 6.
