Last night viewers saw the talent chef from Pitstone storm into the second stage of the three-part finale of the popular BBC programme.

Taking part in an invention test using just scraps of food, Scott concocted a chicken wing dish which had the judges Marcus Wareing and Monica Galetti purring.

That meant he avoided elimination and was then one of four chefs to take part in the Chef’s Table challenge.

Each of the survivors was given a course to cook for a large gathering Michelin-star chefs.

Scott’s intricate malt ice-cream dish had Monica commenting how it looked “absolutely fantastic” and Scott declaring “they all look nice, I’m well happy”.

On arrival into the dining room, judge Gregg Wallace beamed: “This is a stunning looking desert.”

He was one of just two chefs to earn a round of applause fromthe diners.

Monica added: “I’m really proud of Scott and what he has achieved here today.”

Scott will appear next on TV tonight (Wednesday) when the final four will be whittled down to three after an invention test.

The remaining trio will compete on Christmas Eve in the last stage of the final as they prepare a three-course menu for the judges.

Dad-of-one Scott, who is a chef at The Grove in Hertfordshire applied for the show back in January, passing two phone interviews, and a screen test.
